Day 24: Poem About a Fruit

Scroll down to content

She ate cherries and left the pits in my stomach,

For all the complaining sometimes it seems like we accomplished nothing,

Tart and sweet,

I lie my heart at your feet,

Scarlet ruby sunset spit out the pit,

The fruit is sweet, if you wait a little bit,

Anticipation fuels desire,

Once lit it’s not easy to extinguish expansive fire,

Trust me, I sat inside the Earth once and it’s coolness revived me,

In the end, we’re all selenite kerosene lamp light and tracks of muddy feet
