You loved me when I was silent, compliant,

Ruth to your Naomi, now you act like you don’t know me,

I’m not sure if you or your son ever actually loved me,

Is love muted? Silent? Gray? Black or white?

Or

Is love landmines of neon glitter, enduring encouragement, accountability, mutuality, respect?

10/10 (what did you expect?)

*Author’s Note: I have an ex husband and more than 1 ex boyfriend, this poem is whatever arose for whoever it was meant to. All gratitude to the women who birthed the men I have loved and who have loved me.
