NaPoWriMo Year 5 Day 15: A small habit you picked up from one of your parents, and then to write a piece that explores an early memory of your parent engaged in that habit, before shifting into writing about yourself engaging in the same habit.

My mother never really wore lipstick,
I always wondered why as a kid,
I tried in vain to find myself a good lip stain,
but balm always seems to win the game,
I may never know the reason for her habit
But knowing mine I can take an educated guess,
I’d rather be hydrated and alive,
then maintain perfected appearance, reality dry.
